Position Description:
The School of Education announces a full-time faculty position for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Education. This position is the faculty member for a Special Education expert who will be project director to lead development of an Education Specialist Credential Program and to teach courses in the Master of Arts in Education program. The School of Education is seeking applicants with deep experience serving students with mild/moderate support needs at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications. This position also expects applicants to have substantial experience in coordinating programs and building strong partnerships with school districts and communities.
Essential Functions:
- Lead a planning year effort to develop the program and curriculum for an Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Moderate Support Needs) program. Participate in all phases of curriculum planning in compliance with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), the CTC Standards, and the California Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs).With support from the School of Education, develop the proposal necessary to obtain approval for the program from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Build strong partnerships with school districts and community colleges who will collaborate with the program. Coordinate with School of Education faculty and staff and with faculty in other programs at the University. Assist the Office of Graduate Admissions and the School of Education to recruit a diverse group of Education Specialist teacher candidates and advise them regarding program and course requirements. Teach one to two courses per semester in the Master of Arts in Education program. Once the Education Specialist credential program is launched, teach courses in the credential program. Engage in scholarly activities; develop research agenda; publish peer-reviewed articles.
