The Managing Director is a high-level multifaceted position whose responsibility is to expand, implement, and monitor the programs and activities of the Rose Institute, a teacher-training institute based in the School of Education at Manhattanville College. The Institute’s focus is teaching and coaching teachers to provide effective, science- based strategies in the teaching of reading to students K-6 grade in school settings.

Responsibilities:

The managing director role is pivotal: He/she works with the Dean of the School of Education [SOE] as well as the chairperson and faculty members of the School of Education’s Department of Literacy and English Education, to develop and integrate the Rose Institute for Learning and Literacy, in collaboration with Westchester and Northern Westchester and Putnam Counties’ schools, by assuming the following responsibilities:

  • Market the Rose Institute, with the assistance of the School of Education’s Graduate Admissions office, through face-to-face and telephone meetings, various social media outlets, appropriate ads, and printed correspondence
  • Work with superintendents, principals, teachers, and other school district personnel to recruit schools and teachers to participate in the program
  • Work with the Dean to establish agreements with schools and school districts for teachers to participate in the Rose Institute
  • Work with key personnel in all interested schools to schedule and communicate about practicum/mentoring, the primary teaching strategy for participating teachers 
  • Identify and coordinate with the professors and adjuncts who work within the Rose program. 
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Rose Institute programming in Westchester schools
  • Work with Manhattanville administrative offices (e.g., Graduate Admissions, Graduate Advising, School of Education, Registrar, Financial Aid) to ensure that students are registered for coursework and fulfilling requirements for successful completion of the Rose Institute
  • Coordinate billing process to collect fees owed for services rendered
  • Work with Senior Program Adviser to identify opportunities for growth and development of the program in NYC

· Work with Senior Program Adviser and Institutional Advancement to identify and pursue outside funding opportunities

  • Prepare periodic and end-of-year reports that detail the program activities and accomplishments for College Trustees and donors. 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and commitment to a structured literacy approach to literacy instruction.
  • An earned master’s degree or advanced coursework in one or more appropriate areas: education, business, administration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; diplomacy and acumen
  • Facility with Microsoft Suite

Salary: $75,000/yr.

Start Date: July 1, 2023, or sooner.

Hybrid work may be available for this position.
