We are interested in advancing water treatment and desalination technologies via (1) enhancing our fundamental understanding of these technologies from the molecular level to the system level, and (2) developing new processes and materials that lead to higher efficiency, reliability, and versatility.
Our current research is mostly focused on separation processes based on membrane, electro-kinetics and thermal distillation.
We use both experimental and theoretical approaches to investigate a variety of topics, including energy efficiency of desalination, transport of ions and molecules in confined environment, performance-oriented design of new materials and treatment processes, and system-level process analysis.
